The catholics fully supported the fascist movements in Italy, as they do now. As they will continue to do.

It looks like the current Pope is following the previous Pope’s line of standing against them, and calling them out.

We’re being spoilt by the last two popes.

Unfortunately, we’re not gonna get rid of religion anytime soon. Best case scenario is for the christians to follow what Christ said.

When the last two Popes have been more progressive than trending world leaders, theres a problem.

Bloody fucking useless piece of gilded trash, just like the rest of them.

(Unless you need to cover up the rape of a child, of course.)

During Sunday mass in St Peter’s Square, the pope asked that God ‘open borders, break down walls [and] dispel hatred’

Borders do serve a purpose, though. Should Ukraine open their borders to Russians? There are legitimate reasons for wanting to keep other people out.

I think you didn’t get what he said because you have no clue what nationalistic political movements are. It’s not about borders. You can have and enforce borders and still be inclusive.

The Pope is entirely true on this. We are replaying the early last century mistakes if we don’t care about it.

Well, the quote I was responding to used the words “open borders” specifically. I may not understand the meaning of the term, as it is being used here, but hopefully you can understand my confusion. I didn’t realize that “open borders” meant “you can have and enforce borders.” I proceeded on the assumption that those two states exist in opposition to one another.

I don’t know for sure but I suspect he means “open borders” in the context of welcoming/helping refugees and not treating immigrants with such xenophobia
