Alpine Linux related news, help, and information. Alpine Linux is a lightweight distribution, using muslc as its libc and OpenRC as its init. It uses the apk package manager, which is fast and easy to use. For non-packaged software, flatpak can be used.

Alpine Linux can be used in containers as a root filesystem, in Virtual Machines, on servers, and as a desktop.

The base container filesystem is around 5MB, a working server installation around 150MB, and a complete desktop with a web browser can be as small as 700MB.

It can also be run in RAM.
