I will never understand how a war on the other side of the planet is important to me, my life, my family, my community, or anything or here. Why isn’t the other wars important? Isn’t there a civil war in Myanmar? What about the wars in Africa?
And the US has been helping Saudi Arabia starve and devastate Yemen for eight years.
They think Ukraine is important because their preferred news network tells them it is over, and over, and over, and over again and they don’t consume any media that sways from that narrative.
When the war between Russia and Ukraine first started in 2022 I was seeing reports of the Ukrainians trying to force Africans on student visas to stay in the country and fight. That’s when I decided that I don’t gaf about Ukraine.
I remember seeing similar reports, in other news-sources, at the time, BAD racism & prejudice…
These aren’t the only evidences that people have seen.
Poland was also apparently very-bad for anti-Black racism, in the news, of that time…
( not pretending that North America’s somehow clean or just or right, just … except for the Deep South, in the US, North America’s less aggressive that what was being-made-visible in East Europe, then…
Nothing’s going to make racism NOT self-perpetuate, except for “combined arms” dismantling it…
