  • im not missing the point of ‘blame the Palestinian genocide on netanyahu.’ im intentionally dismissing that point, after considering the merits presented. i decline the opportunity to ignore the broad social support within israel for the genocide in the name of “pettyfogging semantics” forsooth; words have meanings. (edit: and not incidentally, with which words’ meaning do you say i am playing semantics?)

editing your comment to state your intention not to bother replying doesn’t count as not bothering replying.

  • genocidal ethnic cleansing has been going on since the ‘founding’ of israel. if you say “hitler did the holocaust,” that’s true but not the complete truth, it misses all those key supporters who enthusiastically participated and without whose support the holocaust could not have taken place. placing the responsibility for a campaign of genocide enacted and supported by the political will of an entire nation onto the shoulders of a single scapegoat robs people of their agency and thereby tends to legitimize “just following bibi’s orders” as a defense. you didn’t mean to “perfect is the enemy of good” your way into the nuremburg defense did you? surely you must have had another direction in mind for scapegoating an entire genocide.

edit: also I’m pretty sure my aphorism was novel, or at least rare, not trite. see if you can come up with where it’s been said before since you say it’s trite. i tried.

edit: i found it. “a king does not enact his own will” is basically a summary of this video. pretty sure that’s where i got it. you decide if it’s trite.

  • yeah no doubt i did.

im sorry i didnt mean to say- I was upset when i wrote that, hard not to be, times bein’. i only meant to say two things can be true at once, just because we need to keep our eye on the ball with this epstein business doesn’t mean he won’t succeed in distracting us from it by doing something that is more nearly in the realm of “normal execution of presidential duties” like invading another country without bothering to get congress’ opinion on the matter, for which there is plenty of precedent.

as for plan? fuuuuck no. I’m figuring we have been sitting around waiting for this liberal utopia to kick in any day now while the dystopiists have been staying up late every night to make sure that doesn’t happen, and now, just now we’re realizing we’ve been in a race and missed the buzzer by like a couple decades. People been shouting from the rooftops about “fascist” this and “authoritarian creep” that and it feels like rather than a slow wave of creep its rather the inflection point of a sudden tsunami flood. with all the worst people from 4chan running the fucking country, how can you plan around chaos? isn’t that the point of the chaos to begin with?

  • You know what would be an even better distraction? Actually invading Mexico. You’re brushing off this threat and not taking it seriously just like the first election as if he can’t possibly be serious and no serious person would go along with it anyway. You can’t just sloganeer your way out of this. Hitler is telling us he wants to own the rest of Europe and murder all the Jews. The first of the concentration camps are already complete. He has already begun rounding up undesirables en masse, with effective legal impunity. What the fuck makes you so fucking certain he doesn’t want to invade France too?! Wake the fuck up.
