I tinkered for years with numerous Raspberry Pies but got tired of it. Bought a second hand Dell ThinClient Wyse 5070 for like 70€, installed DietPi and its awesome.

I installed ublue Aurora, an immutable distro that comes with an optional surface kernel as well. Rally like it so far.

DogDogStarp!

I took my Very Important Documents!!-folder to a neighbour with a decent scanner. It’s not that much, we scanned for an hour or two. Older, less important stuff stays in binders I most likely will never touch. If I do have to look at something from there, I snap a quick FairScan before I put it back. So it’s not about perfection, I just try to make my live easier from now on. :)

I guess not as wet bulb 35 already kills humans

I use puddletag to bulk-change i.e. the album name or album artist. After tagging I use it to change the filename, done.

Efficiency is the exact opposite of resilience, because it removes redundancy and buffers.
I went back from SherpaTTS to eSpeak because I liked the robot woman better. She’s easy to understand, takes up 5 mb on my phone and it’s a fun conversation starter.

I like the oldschool way of tar, rsync and cron

Same here. I have KeePass database set to read only by default on my phone. I can override this but it minimizes the risk of conflict and I add new passwords on my desktop most of the time.

Use DietPi, it’s a great OS

I was fiddeling with my Raspberry Pi 4 but decided to buy a refurbished Dell Wyse Thin Client 5070. It cost like 70€, I put DietPi on it because I love it, plugged an external drive and I’m very happy with the experience.

Synching is incredibly useful, my list of synced folders keeps getting longer, my list of added devices keeps growing. I pray the never drop android support!

I again want to recommend DietPi. Installing software like NextCloud from it is as easy as choosing it from a menu and hitting enter.
Agreed. The tagline “lightweight justice” always sounded strange to me as well. They could definitely go with a friendlier, more mainstream design.

I use Syncthing to sync DCIM and Pictures folders from Android to my computer. Every six month or so, I move pictures from these folder to the folder for this years pictures: home/pictures/2025. So they disappear from my phone as well, which is great to free up space. This works great for me.

Fuck these fucking things! Why do people tend to choose the most insane option when they are given a choice!?

Punch a tiny hole in the neck of an empty 0,33ml PET plastic bottle. You can use a drill, a needle or a corkscrew. Fill it with water and squeeze it to spray your ass, vulva, whatever clean.
Second hand Dell Wyse 5070 ThinClient with DietPi. Add an external drive, install some software from the menu and you’re good to go.
