tumblr has had an incredibly annoying one since forever, the login wall. It shows up while scrolling down about half a screen to tell you you can’t browse any more of it without an account. There are greasemonkey scripts to remove it, but every once in a while tumblr changes the way it’s displaying that shit, so the scripts have to be updated.

(Yeah, I know, tumblr. Don’t judge, I used to download a lot of Sims custom content, and a lot of sim modders like tumblr, for a reason I still don’t fully understand)

I think it’s meant as kind of a joke, but both are shit really.

Shared might indicate they’re able to keep some level of consistency, but since it’s only consistent in the way it produces bullshit, it’s stil useless (and the worst part is it might be more convincing).

Such a weird concept I can barely imagine someone doing that seriously. As a joke, maybe with your worst Mario impression cut by exaggerated slurping sounds, maybe.

It’s a pokémon joke. In the first games there is a kid who has a very random line about his love for shorts, and since then they’ve put someone like him with a similar quote in a lot of games.

This is better and I think I would totally do this if management forced me to use AI. If they want to pretend using this thing is a better use of my time, I’ll give them what they want.

Fortunately I am working for an administration that has had rather tame expectations for gen AI use till now. They’re basically just like “experiment if you want, be careful and use what works for you”. So I just keep doing what I always did.

It was just not good enough for “We wrote a sci-fi story”.

Every now and then I see a guy barging in a topic bringing nothing else than “I asked [some AI service] and here’s what it said”, followed by 3 paragraphs of AI-gened gibberish. And then when it’s not well received they just don’t seem to understand.

It’s baffling to me. Anyone can ask an AI. A lot of people specifically don’t, because they don’t want to battle with its output for an hour trying to sort out from where it got its information, whether it represented it well, or even whether it just hallucinated half of it.

And those guys come posting a wall of text they may or may not have read themselves, and then they have the gall to go “What’s the problem, is any of that wrong?”… Dude, the problem is you have no fucking idea if it’s wrong yourself, have nothing to back it up, and have only brought automated noise to the conversation.
